To Whom It May Concern:
(Your name) is a forty-nine year old female with a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis. The condition has exacerbated, leaving (your name) wheelchair dependent. The patient’s upper extremity strength is good, but increased tone is apparent in the trunk and bilateral lower extremities.
There are multiple medical complications associated with prolonged sitting. Enabling the patient to stand on a daily basis will facilitate normal function of the gastrointestinal and urinary tracts, decreasing the occurrence of urinary tract infections. The weight bearing provided will decrease the patient’s increased tone. Standing also reduces the incidence of pressure sore, a common problem for multiple sclerosis patients. The increased circulation provided by standing, along with improving/aiding the above conditions will decrease edema, another common problem area for (your name).
The LifeStand seated to standing wheelchair provides a solid and durable standing frame. Its portability and ease of mobility allow it to double as a standard wheelchair. The LifeStand wheelchair will allow (your name) to go from a sitting to standing position independently without power or manual assistance. With this she will be able to once again participate in activities that have been denied her secondary to her condition. The LifeStand wheelchair will provide this patient with enough mobility and activity that physical therapy will no longer be a necessary expense at this time.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter. I look forward to your reply.
Sincerely,
Your Physical Therapist
